Worked on over the course of a year, the painting unfolds in intricate frames of iconography and hidden narratives, reminiscent of Pietra Dura inlay work, where storytelling is embedded within architecture.
Using a richly textured combination of acrylics, oils, watercolours, charcoals, and inks, Levels builds upon itself like a palimpsest of time and knowledge. Structures emerge from the canvas; some solid, some dissolving ~ suggesting shifting dimensions, temporal echoes, and unseen pathways between realms.
The golden light of the upper levels hints at enlightenment, memory, and the divine, while the darker, grounded layers suggest the weight of history, shadowed perspectives, and the unknown depths of human thought.
At its core, Levels is an invitation to ascend or descend through interpretation and self-discovery, where each viewing reveals new doorways, hidden figures, and forgotten histories.
